Harry Potter is a story about a wizard that goes to a wizard school and that has loads of adventures.its very amusing and not scary so show it to lots of peeps

Darren Shan

Slawter

It may be very gory but this is my favourite Darren Shan book I have read so far!! There is lots of action as Grubbs Grady and his uncle try 2 fight the demon master Lord Loss and his minions. It is written as if Grubbs was writing the entry as he is fighting and that makes me feel as if I was there. I would recommend this 2 all teens that love gore.

A fantastic horror book.

Scorpia

This book is about Alex Rider, a reluctant teenage spy. It is book five I believe of a series of books. It's really well written and the detail that the author has put into it is amazing. It's action packed and a fab read. Recomened for 8 - 12 year olds but don't let that put you off. I'm 15 and I love them and I know a 23 year old who loves them too. if you like books which are action packed and rediculusly unbalieveable then this is the book for you! It would be best to read them in order but they can be read on their own but they do occasionaly refer to things that will have happened in other books. They make you laugh, they make you feel for Alex and they'll have you on the edge of your seat wondering if he'll survive.

The Ostrich Boys

Ostrich Boys cover image
When Kenny, Sim & Blake's best friend is killed they feel his funeral doesn't reflect the boy they knew, so they steal his ashes and embark on a journey to give him the send-off they feel befits him. They take their friend from their home in Cleethorpes to the tiny hamlet that bears his name - Ross in Scotland and on the way find out a lot about the friendship between the three of them as the impact that Ross had on them all - and still does. It's a wonderful story both funny and sad and most notably about what friendship really means

Dorne

3 boy's steal their friends ash's and take them on a journey to a proper funeral.

very funny book. It was really interesting to show how 3 friends would cope with taking their friends remains and how they would feel and that their understanding of their friend is not as clear as they thought. All together, it was a very intersting and different adventure.

Aidan, Oriel High

This book is about friendship, death, relationships, family, love etc.

3 friends  Sim, Kenny & Blake angrered at the death of their 'best friend'. Create havoc by stealing their urn and ashes of 'Ross' and out out to Ross in scotland As they travel- new adventures & set backs (losing Kenny's rucksack) set them on a Journey of Self discovery & also a dawning that their mate did take his own life- as was suggested at the beginning. The meeting of different people give the boys an insight into themselves. Meeting of the gals & staying in the cottage "Tramps Hotel". They find out the Police are after them- appeared on t.v. They escape on scooters from a farm (one of the gals) They fall off and split up- Major Rows as it slowly dawns on each other that they added stress 2 their mates headstate & feel guilty.Blake then carries on alone 2 Ross with Ross. Sim disapperas & Kenny finally meets up again. Then Ross dad arrives.

The 3 boys understand that they have been Ostriches & buried their heads in the sand about their mates feelings & their own. (maybe all Connected with Ross sister mum & dad- feel it 2) Enjoyable moving stooty with humour weaved into an action packed Emotional Adventure.

The Graveyard Book cover image
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman tells the story of Bod (Nobody Owens) who is saved from certain death by a group of graveyard ghosts. The ghosts decide to raise Bod themselves but the evil that wiped out his family has not gone away and remains a threat to his survival. bod's adventures with the living and the dead make great reading. The book is beautifully illustrated by Chris Riddell.

A wonderfully quirky book.

  Patrick Ness

The Knife of Letting Go

the story is quite bland, but it gradually gets better along the way. It's written in a unique way.

Christopher, Oriel High

This book was a fantastic novel. Patrick Ness has really created a masterpiece here and should be proud. The world inside this book is dark and emotional and always provides a twist to keep the reader entertained and entranced. I would recommend this book to everyone I know and I think Patrick Ness is a great author.

This book I found hard to get into at first as it started about football and Dylan being the only boy in Manod. But then I got into it and page by page I finished it. Its quite a good book I think its aimed at boys more than girls. It’s probably for boys aged 7-15 I’d recommend it to other people.

The palace of laughter

The palace of laughter cover image
This book was very unusual and i liked the idea but i found some bits very tedious and boring. It was hard to understand what was going on. The beginning of the book was very good and drew me into the story but the middle was so dull i actually gave up reading it.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes adventure and other worldly stories but not to someone who gets bored easily and wants other things to happen.
It's suitable for anyone over the age 10.

Lucas

Playaway Audio Book

Lucas cover image
Lucas is a strange book full of mystery and questions. A young girl is telling of how she met him and her feelings toward him. Also she is facing the struggle of growing up and trying new things.

About it being audio: Personally I prefer to read my own books than having them read to me but if you like having books read to you instead then that’s great. If you cant stand reading or cant read the reasons could be endless then its perfect for you

Age: I don’t think this book should be issued to under 12s, as there are parts that are unsuitable for young kids.

Gender: It’s definitely more of a girl’s book.

i enjoyed certain parts of this book but found it a little bit boring in some places, The story line was a good idea but i dont normally like books like this so it was hard to get into.
i didnt think the portrayal of foster kids in the book was very realistic it might be for some people but i dont think im anything like him.
this book made me thinks twice about buying a crocodile i never knew they couldn't chew.
the book was slightly gross.
id recommened it for 13 yrs plus becuase its got lots of swearing in and is very graphic in the eating of the dead pigs and animals. i think boys might like it better than girls.

The start of this book sets your mind racing asking questions about what is written on the open page. However the mystery unravels in front of your very eyes and turns out to make perfect sense. It’s an amazing book, which is a great teen read. I think it would be best suited to a girl although boys could read it if they say chose to widen their range. Its an amazing book and is worth reading. I think this book is suitable for teenagers.

It is about three girls who are planning on going out for the night but have to be back by a certain time anyway one of girls meet a boy that she likes and she stays out later than she is meant to. Noughts & crosses

Noughts & crosses

I really like this book. It is the first in the trilogy. It is set in a world were Crosses rule and Noughts are just left out. You follow the lives of Sephy(Daughter of the Deputy Prime Minister) and Callum(a Nought) as they fall in love and try to live in a world demonated by class. I would recommend this book to girls 10+ and boys 9+. It is quite a challenging book as it is 478 pages long.
